As the true pillars of life at GEM, student association play a vital role in the school’s vibrant atmosphere. They bring students together around ambitious projects, strengthen ties between campuses and programs, and embody—on a daily basis—the values of initiative, collaboration, and openness that define GEM’s identity.

By spearheading projects that extend far beyond the school, they provide a unique space where you can develop your skills, share memories that will last a lifetime, build lasting relationships, and join a community you can count on long after you graduate.

As you can see, getting involved in GEM’s student life means:

As part of independent nonprofit organizations (under the 1901 law), you’ll lead exciting and career-building projects both in France and internationally. The reward: guaranteed skill development while receiving guidance and support from GEM.

The “association” track allows M1 PGE students selected based on their application materials to devote every afternoon of the first semester to managing their student association. As an integral part of GEM’s practical, field-based educational approach, your “association” track is evaluated and included in your curriculum.

Upon taking on your role, you’ll begin with a seminar on nonprofit management that will enable you to earn a “Nonprofit Management” certificate. From financial management and communication to negotiation, legal matters, and HR management, you’ll have the opportunity to acquire practical professional skills that are directly applicable to your nonprofit organization.

At GEM, student associations work alongside the school in a rigorous prevention initiative to ensure that events are festive, responsible, and completely safe.

Each year, two safety coordinators from each associations are trained in “life-saving techniques.” They commit to being present at all events organized by their association to ensure compliance with best practices and to intervene when necessary.

As a member of a GEM student organization, you will receive training focused on preventing and combating violence, discrimination, and harassment (VDH). In addition, two VDH coordinators from each organization are trained in active listening by psychologists, as well as in legal issues by our partner France Victimes.

Present at events, the VDH liaisons serve as essential points of support: they are there to listen to you, provide support if necessary, and help create a trusting environment where everyone can speak freely and safely.
