Dr. Jie (Jeff) Yan is a Professor of Strategy and Technology Management at Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM), France. He received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master's degree in Management Science from Tsinghua University, China, and his Ph.D. in Management from Hull University, England.

Jeff teaches various courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, including Risk Management, Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, Management Information Systems, Research Methods, and Social Network Analysis.

Jeff has extensive experience in the development and management of DBA programs. Since 2006, he has served as Academic Director of GEM's DBA programs, during which he developed and/or managed multiple DBA collaborations with prestigious institutions such as Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Sun Yat-sen University, and Chongqing University in China, Webster University in Switzerland, and Saint Anna University in Italy. He has recruited approximately 250 DBA students, supervised over 40 doctoral candidates - 27 of whom have successfully graduated - and chaired more than 120 DBA thesis defenses from 2007 to the present.

As Director of China Development, Jeff leverages his extensive network with Chinese academic leaders, entrepreneurs, and government officials to spearhead strategic partnerships and business initiatives in China. Since serving as the Academic Advisor for the Asian Zone at Center of International Affairs in 2012, he has established numerous exchange and double degree programs with leading Chinese universities. In alignment with GEM’s international strategy, Jeff is currently focused on developing collaborative degree programs, such as 2+2, 3+2, and 1+1 models, to enhance international student recruitment. He is also directing GEM’s expansion into short-term executive education initiatives, including EMBA residential programs, teacher-training programs for Chinese universities, and entrepreneurial study tours in Europe, etc.

Jeff's research expertise lies in Innovation and Technology Management, particularly innovation strategies, internet-based business models, user behaviors on social media platforms, and technology adoption. His scholarly work has been published in respected journals such as R&D Management, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information and Management, Regional Studies, International Journal of Technology Management, International Journal of Information Management, Journal of International Management, Technology Analysis and Strategic Management, Journal of Marketing Management, Electronic Commerce Research and Application, etc.
