Grenoble Ecole de Management’s strategic plan for a transformative educational experience rooted in the heart of the Alps, Europe's Silicon Valley.
EAGLE 2030 : Engaging the Alps in the GEM Learning Experience
What is Eagle 2030 ?
Symbolizing our ambition and Alpine identity, EAGLE 2030 embodies GEM’s excellence and commitment to major transitions. Over five years, this strategic plan places the Alps at the core of an immersive and innovative educational experience (GEM Learning Experience), guiding every learner toward a meaningful and impactful future.
This ambitious plan, structured around three key pillars, reaffirms GEM’s position as the Business School of Science, Transitions, and Learning Journeys, driven by a bold and transformative vision:
- The school is revolutionizing education with the innovative 60-20-20 learning model, known as the GEM Alpine Immersive Learning Journey.
- Science reflects the embodiment of GEM’s technological, industrial, and innovative DNA within its unique ecosystem, based in Europe’s Silicon Valley.
- Lastly, GEM anticipates Transitions for a sustainable future through its institutes of excellence focusing on new forms of work, energy transition, and economic development, such as the EnerG Institute, the Future of Work Institute, and the Moving Mountains Institute.

The 3 focuses of EAGLE 2030
FOCUS 1. JOURNEY : A UNIQUE LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Rooted in the Alps, GEM’s educational approach combines classroom learning, virtual immersions, and real-world experiences. Through GEM Labs and its extensive partner ecosystem, each student builds a personalized and engaging journey.
#1 THE GEM ALPINE IMMERSIVE LEARNING JOURNEY
All GEM programs will progressively adopt the 60-20-20 learning model, meaning 60% classroom learning, 20% digital learning using advanced tools like VR and AI platforms and 20% off-site learning through immersive projects in natural or industrial settings.
#2 HYBRIDIZATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS AT THE HEART OF THE EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY
GEM offers an innovative educational approach combining technical, creative, and managerial disciplines. By building on partnerships with engineering schools and key players in the arts, design, and architecture fields, the school trains versatile leaders with unique profiles, capable of tackling the challenges of an interconnected world.
FOCUS 2. SCIENCES
#1 STRENGTHENING SCIENTIFIC COMMITMENT WITH THE ENERG INSTITUTE, A KEY PLAYER IN SCIENTIFIC INNOVATION
GEM has created the EnerG Institute, a center of excellence dedicated to climate and energy transitions. This initiative is supported by programs such as the Energy for Society Chair and the TET Program (Technology and Energy Transition). Through specialized Master’s programs, GEM prepares visionary leaders capable of addressing energy challenges. The launch of the European Chair of Transitions in December 2024 further strengthens this ambition by involving students in research on renewable energy and concrete solutions.
#2 BRIDGING MANAGEMENT AND SCIENTIFIC INNOVATION TO SERVE THE ECOSYSTEM
GEM strengthens the link between management, research, and industry within the Grenoble ecosystem, particularly through its involvement with GIANT (Grenoble Innovation for Advanced New Technologies) and partnerships with key players like the CEA (the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission) and STMicroelectronics. The school pioneers tailor-made programs, such as France's first MBA-Tech, to meet the needs of its partners while contributing to the growth of Europe’s Silicon Valley. These hybrid initiatives merge scientific and managerial expertise to train essential talents for the economic world and foster a positive impact on the ecosystem.
GEM is an active founding member of GIANT (Grenoble Innovation for Advanced New Technologies).
FOCUS 3. TRANSITIONS
#1. CREATE MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES WITH ALPINE IMMERSIVE EXPEDITIONS
GEM will immerse all its students in Alpine Immersive Expeditions from the beginning of their studies, plunging them into the concrete challenges of sustainable management in an Alpine environment. Guided by experts, students develop essential skills in leadership, resilience, and resource management through intensive and hands-on experiences.
#2. CREATE VALUE THROUGH OUR INSTITUTES, CHAIRS AND SYNERGIES WITH OUR PARTNERS
GEM has launched three institutes of excellence: EnerG (energy transition), Future of Work (digital transformation of work), and Moving Mountains (sustainable development in Alpine environments). In collaboration with its partners, GEM brings together education, research, and innovation to address economic and environmental challenges. The Territories in Transition Chair promotes inclusive and sustainable models, bridging research and practical action.
#3. GEM LABS, FUTURE AGORA OF TRANSFORMATIONs, PLAYGROUND FOR DESIGN THINKING AND DESIGN FICTION
Unique in France, GEM Labs is becoming a hub dedicated to co-creation and sustainable regeneration, serving businesses, communities, and various organizations. By combining Design Thinking and Design Fiction, GEM students develop concrete solutions to today’s challenges while envisioning innovative responses for the future.
CHOOSING GEM means choosing to transform in an open-air theatre, the Alps, where ecological and notably climate transitions and their social and geographical consequences are particularly striking.
