Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE)

The Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) allows individuals to turn their work experience into a recognized qualification. Through this pathway, candidates can obtain a degree, title, or professional certification listed in the French National Register of Professional Certifications (RNCP), accelerating their career development.

Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE)

Since 2023, VAE can either aim for the acquisition of a complete certification or target the acquisition of one or more skill blocks.

A personalized pathway integrating professional experience

Unlike traditional academic programs, VAE focuses on:

    • Recognition of skills acquired through professional experience
    • A competency-based assessment rather than course attendance
    • Certification of proven competencies instead of academic curricula
    • A fully individualized pathway, reflecting each candidate’s unique professional background
    • A typical duration of 12 to 18 months

The VAE Process at Grenoble Ecole de Management

In line with French regulations, all VAE applications are submitted via the France VAE national portal, which also enables access to funding options such as the CPF, employer contributions, and additional public funding.

Key steps:

  1. Application & eligibility assessment via France VAE
  2. Personalized support (optional but strongly recommended) provided by a certified Architecte Accompagnateur de Parcours (AAP)
  3. Preparation and submission of the validation dossier
  4. Oral defense before the VAE jury, composed of academic and industry professionals
  5. Jury decision: complete validation, partial validation, or non-validation

In the case of partial validation, validated competency blocks are permanently acquired, and a tailored action plan is proposed to achieve full certification.

Fees

  • Jury fee: €3,000 (incl. VAT)
  • Support fees: determined by the AAP
