A Master’s degree is a national diploma recognized by the French State (equivalent to five years of higher education), and is often generalist in nature. An Advanced Master’s program®, on the other hand, is a label awarded by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE) and is accessible after a five-year higher education degree or equivalent. It provides in-depth specialization in a specific field (cybersecurity, finance, procurement, etc.), directly aligned with market needs.
Pursuing an Advanced Master’s program means choosing a high-level, professionally oriented and highly specialized education. It is ideal for developing new skills, changing career paths, or specializing in a strategic field. GEM’s Advanced Master’s programs rely on a strong network of experts, corporate partners, and alumni to accelerate your career.

As part of the program, students, organized into small teams, work on a concrete, innovative project. Many projects are supervised by alumni or companies operating in the medical device, biotechnology, and biomedical sectors. These collaborations allow students to explore the challenges and strategic decisions faced by managers and business leaders.
The topics covered are diverse, and participants typically have the opportunity to choose from several proposed projects. They carry out feasibility studies and in-depth market analyses over several months. This work enables them to build relationships with industry professionals and fully leverage networking opportunities to deepen their understanding of the selected projects.
This simulation is designed to illustrate the interactions between different business functions and to enhance understanding of the challenges and complexities associated with strategic management.
Each year, students in the program participate in a study trip. This trip offers a unique immersion in the heart of the European biomedical ecosystem. By combining visits to cutting-edge facilities, interactions with professionals, and academic insights, the trip provides a tangible perspective on the realities of the sector.
Beyond the scientific enrichment, it fosters student cohesion and represents a valuable opportunity to build a strong professional network.
On the Paris campus, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience through two training formats tailored to your needs and goals.
Work-Study Format: Alternate between on-campus classes and periods in a company to acquire meaningful professional experience while applying theoretical knowledge in practice. This format allows you to develop skills on the job and gradually integrate into the professional world.
Schedule: 3 weeks in the company / 1 week on campus (subject to variation depending on the month)
Full-Time Format: Attend full-time classes from September to March, then apply your knowledge during a 4- to 6-month internship. This immersion helps you strengthen your expertise and build a professional network before entering the job market.
Whichever format you choose, you will benefit from a structured program designed to maximize skill development and employability.
The skills targeted by the degree
Our goal: to train you in the fundamentals of business management applied to the life sciences and equip you with the knowledge and skills needed for your professional project.
We adopt a generalist approach, allowing you to acquire a broad range of skills to better understand the complexity of interactions within companies. This program provides a cross-functional perspective and prepares you to tackle challenges by leveraging multiple areas of expertise. With a versatile profile and a comprehensive understanding of organizational processes, you will be able to identify opportunities and propose innovative solutions.
By the end of this program, you will be able to:
- Define a biomedical business development strategy
- Design and leverage strategic biomedical partnerships
- Optimize the financial performance of a biomedical project
- Manage a multidisciplinary and multicultural biomedical project
You can find a detailed description of the skills targeted by this program on France Compétences, RNCP Card 38588
Graduates of this program will be able to analyze the links between technology and productivity, identify growth opportunities, and adapt to a constantly evolving environment. You will be capable of challenging established models and exploring new technological and economic strategies to enhance competitiveness and create value within your organization.
Evaluation and Validation
Teaching Methods at GEM are highly practical, based on real business cases and enriched by contributions from industry professionals. These learning experiences help you develop your innovation and creativity skills through simulations, real case studies, and hands-on exercises.
- Assessment: Case studies based on real or hypothetical business situations, completed individually and/or in groups.
- Program completion: Writing and defending a professional thesis before an academic and professional jury.
The professional thesis is the final step toward obtaining the degree. It is neither an internship report nor an academic doctoral thesis. It is a well-developed managerial reflection, combining field observations and theoretical research, providing a genuine contribution to the company. It must conclude with recommendations applicable exclusively to the company where the assignment took place.
In the case of partial validation of the targeted professional certification, the validated skill blocks are acquired and documented through a certificate (certification of skill block(s)). Correspondences of skill blocks are available on the RNCP records of professional certifications.
