The Research Ethics Committee (REC) of Grenoble School of Management was created in February 2024 to support researchers of the school in the development of their ethical reflection in research.

Its missions consist, on one hand, in the ethical evaluation of the research conducted by the school's researchers in the humanities and social sciences involving the direct or indirect participation of human beings. On the other hand, the committee's mission is to promote an ethical culture within the research community. Thus, researchers will be given the means to think about their research in a new light before submitting it for evaluation. The creation of the REC is therefore part of an overall approach that places ethics at the heart of research at Grenoble School of Management.

In practice, any research project involving the use of data collected directly or indirectly from human beings will now have to be evaluated by the committee. The committee will evaluate the project with respect to the various charters in force and will advise the researcher whenever necessary to improve the ethical and responsible character of the research. Points of tension will be discussed within the committee to guarantee relevant decisions. Moreover, workshops for reflection and training on research ethics will be organized to stimulate thought and map out points of discussion within the faculty.

The head of the REC is appointed by the Dean of Research. The REC consists of the nine scientific team leaders and the Data Protection Officer of Grenoble School of Management, who are full members. The REC may invite external members as observers to help it reflect on its practices. The REC will meet in plenary session twice a year. The REC will produce an annual report detailing the types of referrals, identified problems, and deliberations around them.
