Jan is a PhD candidate in the Alternative Forms of Markets and Organizations (AFMO) research team. Their main interests lie in expertise, new technology, and the future of work. Their dissertation presents a phenomenological perspective on how workers learn to use and adapt technology in the workplace by drawing primarily on Maurice Merleau-Ponty.

Further research interests include disability and disabled identity and queer theory, and how these intersect with digital culture, such as in the case of disabled Instagram influencers or the queer communities and self-presentation of VTubers.
