Doctor Honoris Causa title awarded to Henri Lachmann
On the 24th September, Grenoble Ecole de Management conferred the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Henri Lachmann, the chairman of the Supervisory Board of Schneider Electric, in presence of France’s prime minister, François Fillon.

Grenoble Ecole de Management wished to mark the exemplary track record of this iconic and emblematic figure of France’s industrial world.

Via this distinction, Grenoble Ecole de Management recognises Henri Lachmann’s contributions in terms of technological innovation and management. More so, this great ‘innovative’ manager legitimised an important concept for Grenoble Ecole de Management: that of creating value through innovation.

Lachmann’s career is an illustration and testimonial that it is pertinent for a manager, and thus a business school – to take interest in technology and innovation and create skills and knowledge related to those fields.

Thierry Grange, Dean of Grenoble Ecole de Management said: “Thanks to our faculty and their publications we have acquired a worldwide visibility in the field of innovation. It is therefore very important to us to maintain our valuable links with great managers who have performed outstandingly with innovation and to underline how much research enhances the performance of businesses.

By accepting this honorary degree, Henri Lachmann becomes the first ambassador of the Grenoble School and of its expertise. Other emblematical figures - industrialists and researchers - will join him in our ambition: Raising research in management of technology and innovation as a major vector in the performance of businesses.
