AMBA accreditation
The Grenoble Ecole de Management DBA has recently been accredited by The Association of MBAs (AMBA).
It is one of five programs worldwide to receive such recognition.
The other AMBA accredited DBAs are delivered by Aston Business School, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Kingston Business School and Maastricht School of Management.
AMBA’s Accreditation of the DBA is a response to market concerns over issues of both quality in an increasing international market for DBA programs, and clarity over the nature of various postgraduate degrees in general management.
Jean-Jacques Chanaron, director of the Doctoral school at Grenoble Ecole de Management said: “This accreditation recognises the successful work we have been undertaking for over 15 years. Although the DBA is highly renowned in the UK and USA, it remains uncommon in France, with Grenoble Ecole de Management being one of only a few French schools delivering it.
We are keen to continue developing it with the ambition of having 300 doctorates by 2010. Considered as the highest-level business qualification attainable, we see the DBA as one of the keys to responding to the global doctoral faculty shortages business schools are facing today, alongside the AACSB’s ‘Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business’ scheme we are also involved in.”
A multi-location network
Grenoble Ecole de Management delivers its DBA in several locations in France, China, Lebanon, USA and in the UK in association with Newcastle University Business School.
In September the school will also deliver its DBA in Switzerland.
Students can expect to gain a truly international experience as research training workshops are conducted in different locations throughout the course of study.
Most often participants choose international and varied subjects. For example:
- Do Management Consultants create knowledge (which is essential for the well being of a mobile telecom entity)? If yes, what is the process used for the production of this knowledge?
- Talents retention in the Lebanese investment banking sector is becoming a challenging risk that should be mitigated. How can investment banks retain their talents?
- Factors influencing TV drama taste diversity in Mainland China.
They also benefit from the vast experience of the international faculty and supervisors.
The DBA - A doctoral program for executives
An executive research-based degree, the DBA is marked by an interaction between the theoretical and the applied aspects of management knowledge and focused on management of technology, organizational change and innovation.
The program is aimed at executives with 5 to 10 years experience who wish to enhance their career.
Just like any other doctorate, it offers the academic qualifications necessary for its graduates to teach in the higher-education sector, and more particularly in business schools. It also prepares individuals for advanced consulting careers.
Jean-Jacques Chanaron said: “Businesses which support their executives in pursuing a DBA can benefit in two ways: not only do they gain from the results of the research undertaken which should be based on an emerging and complex problem within the company itself, they also offer their ‘top performers’ a challenge both practical and intellectual which will undoubtedly bring them job satisfaction and boost their faithfulness to the organisation.”
Adapted to work-study convenience, this four year program is structured to facilitate part time study so that students can combine ongoing careers with their doctoral research.
