The DBA is a part-time degree conducted entirely in English aimed at executives with 5 to 10 years experience. Its duration ranges between 3 to 5 years and allows executives to theorise the management skills they have put in practice throughout their career.
The DBA of Grenoble Ecole de Management, which is orientated towards technology and innovation, is dispensed in China since 2002, in partnership with the prestigious Tongji University School of Economics and Management of Shanghai.
Grenoble Ecole de Management trains overall nearly 150 DBA students, including 48 in China, who meet four times a year with French professors for intensive research seminars.
The Grenoble school has been delivering doctorate training for over 14 years and delivers its DBA in Grenoble, USA, and England (joint-DBA with Newcastle). Two new international DBAs are also in the works.
About the DBA
Created by Harvard Business School, the DBA is a training programme which offers a doctoral qualification similar of that of a PhD. Two fundamental characteristics distinguish the DBA from the PhD: their student population and methodology.
A PhD is frequently aimed at students with no prior professional experience and who usually project to work in academia. The DBA attracts experienced executives who want to theorise the management practices they already put into practice in their career.
Further to a more and more complex environment where managerial practices are in constant development, high-calibre executives are increasingly seeking to be trained and receive further academic recognition to add value to their professional experience. After graduation, these executives remain within a business or consultant career.
