A word from the Program Director
"Companies are looking for Business Developers with very concrete abilities, such as strong marketing and sales skills. Skills that are a must to be able to set up a subsidiary abroad, handle a joint venture, sign complex deals or world wide agreements.
In today’s global market, candidates with the ability to launch new international activities and who have deep understanding of the stakes of a specific market are highly sought after. The MSc Business Development aims to provide them with the tools needed to start at this level."
Marie-France Derderian, MSc in Business Development Program Director
Michelin invests in Grenoble
A strengthened Michelin-GGSB partnership continues to offer job and enriching opportunities to students of MSc Business development
The world’s largest tyre manufacturer is sponsoring a number of the Grenoble School’s programs. The existent partnership already resulted in several recruitments of GGSB graduates by Michelin.
MSc Business Development
Michelin is particularly involved in GGSB’s MSc Business Development. Students on the program benefit from intensive training – live business cases – delivered by Michelin throughout the year, and … hire high potential students as last year with 2 people one , a swedish student as Pricing and Marketing Intelligence Manager in Michelin Sweden and another one as Account Manager in Michelin UK
Last year the training resulted in field work on Michelin’s business development in India. This year, 2011 students will be going to China to study similar activities. During their course of study, students will also examine the cultural and managerial differences, as well as the best Chinese negotiation techniques. They will arrive in China with the aim of offering concrete proposals for the development of Michelin’s activities in the country – proposals that will then be detailed in their end-of-program thesis and viva.
Students will be examining two cases this year:
- In order to build a robust geographical Michelin footprint in China, what would be your strategy?
- How can Michelin become an eco-friendly industrial company in China?
The compulsory Chinese Residency will take place from the 28th February to the 6th March 2010 in Shanghai and Beijing. The class of 35 students will also have the opportunity of visiting several businesses and attending lectures on Chinese business culture and of course they will welcome in Michelin China in Shanghai

Students feedback :
"Taking part in this exceptional experience helped us in acquiring the right balance of informative business visits and opportunities for cultural exploration. All of the logistics were well organized and our hosts and tour guides provided important assistance.
The companies we visited as Michelin China, Airbus Tianjin, Sansi Tech (Chinese company), Aon Hewitt, (consulting firm), Oxylane Decathlon, Asobio , EDF Trading and the executives who spoke with us were particularly impressive. The level of attention they gave to our questions was exceptional."

Student testimonial
"In regards to the Business Case I believe its benefit lies in the fact that it empowers students to think creatively about a real problem that a company is currently facing. That the case problem is a current problem gives added meaning to students and is a cornerstone of the programs uniqueness.
Having the case situated in one of the much talked about BRIC countries gives an added international and relevant perspective. The international study trip gives students a glimpse of how MNC's adapt to and operate in a challenging market like China and also gives us real life experience in a fruitful and emerging market.
The ability to experience the energy and power of the pace of change of business in China is a true privilege.
Katherine Hushovd

Student testimonials
"During the second semester of the MSc. in Business Development program I had the chance to participate in the Procter and Gamble Information and Decision Solution Challenge in Istanbul, Turkey.
During this event, I was able to put into practice the different learning acquired during the different modules at GGSB. Those learnings definitely boosted my performance at the business challenge where together with an amazing team, we managed to rank first. Based on my performance, I was offered a 6 month internship as a business analyst in a Customer Business Development team at P&G Paris.
The main highlight of this experience was the responsibility that was offered to me on trying to change the way business is done using deep data analysis and pitching new solutions to customers. After that, I joined GOOGLE EMEA HQ in Dublin for the role of Account Manager for Middle East and North Africa for the Adsense product. Supporting publishers from 19 different countries and helping them monetizing their websites is my daily task. That's definitely the biggest responsibility I've ever had ! "
Fouad Howayek, Account Manager for Middle East and North Africa, Google in Dublin
"I got recruited while I was studying at MSc. Business Development and working on a project for Michelin in India. Through this project I got to know Michelin well and all the possibilities they can offer you as a multinational and market-leading company.
My daily job is very challenging and developing on a personal level as I am learning and progressing every day. What I like the most about my job is the fact that I get to be on a strategic level, seeing the result of my own analyses and to put them into context. This together with a great deal of responsibility, a multicultural environment and a lot of international career possibilities creates a truly inspiring workplace."
