Doing the DBA in Lebanon

In 2008, Grenoble Ecole de Management (Grenoble, France) and the Lebanese Canadian University(Aïntoura – Kesrouan near Beirut, Lebanon), have combined forces to offer a unique Doctorate of Business Administration degree in Lebanon. The degree is delivered by Grenoble Ecole de Management.


Students’ profile

Recruitment for this program is mainly in Lebanon but also on a worldwide basis. Students come from a wide variety of career backgrounds. These may include: sciences, humanities and technical and engineering fields.

Participants have generally attained a high level of professional achievement. They are typically managers or executives with advanced degrees in business disciplines or professionally qualified teachers in business schools.

Supervision of the doctoral students

Each DBA candidate is assigned a research-active professor from Grenoble Ecole de Management. The Supervisor brings a broad range of expertise and an international reputation in research on business innovation, technology management and the organisational dimensions of technological change.

Training workshops location

Training workshops organized during stage I are held in Grenoble and In Lebanon*. The pedagogical content and the organisation of the seminars are under the responsibility of Grenoble Ecole de Management. A pool of Grenoble Ecole de Management qualified professors has the responsibility of leading the research seminars.

Admission requirements

Academic qualifications

Candidates should have or expect to hold a Master's degree in management (MBA, MA, MSc or equivalent) or in a related discipline from a recognized institution.

Professional experience

Candidates should also have management experience of at least 3 years pre- or post-Master's.

Language requirements

The DBA workshops are conducted in English. Students whose first language is not English or who have not already studied successfully in an English-speaking environment will be required to provide evidence of advanced proficiency in English.

Research Proposal

In order to show their potential to conduct an applied research project over a 4 years period, candidates will be asked to submit a Research Proposal based on a managerial problematic they are currently facing and that impacts their business activity (the format is the application package).
Insofar candidates might not have experience in writing a Research Proposal, a “how-to-start” support could be provided by Grenoble Ecole de Management.

Application

The 2013 program will start in December 2013.

The recruitment of Intake 2013 students is currently ongoing. Applications must be submitted directly to the Lebanese Canadian University (contact information below) until July 1st 2013.

Final acceptance to the program is the entire responsibility of Grenoble Ecole de Management. It will be based on the following:

  • An interview with the Program Director, in person or by telephone, based on candidate's professional experience and educational background, the submitted Research Proposal, and motivation to pursue a doctoral program regarding candidate's professional objectives.
  • The final validation by Grenoble Ecole de Management Admission Board.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees are directly paid to the Lebanese Canadian University LCU Website.
Once accepted in the program, applicants become students of both the LCU and Grenoble Ecole de Management.


(*): Students are responsible for the cost of travel, accommodation and food during the compulsory workshops to attend.
